Generative fashion imagery and digital twins
The problem
Fashion moves at the pace of social trends, but traditional product and campaign photography takes weeks — too slow to react, and expensive at scale.
The AI approach
Generative AI produces on-brand imagery on demand, including photorealistic 3D “digital twins” of real models (with ORENDT Studios), so a model can be “dressed” and shot in virtual environments without hundreds of physical photos.
Evidence it works
Zalando (via Reuters) reported cutting imagery production time from 6–8 weeks to ~3–4 days and reducing costs by ~90%, with ~70% of its editorial campaign images in late 2024 AI-generated, and the ability to respond to viral trends in under 24 hours. It operates across 25 European markets.
What “good” looks like
Faster, cheaper, on-trend content at scale — with quality and brand consistency maintained and creative teams freed for higher-value work.
Feasibility & cost shape
Increasingly accessible via generative tools, but achieving brand-grade, consistent output needs strong creative direction and governance.
A clean “augment, don’t replace” case — the bottleneck was time and physics, not talent. We’d pair deployment with clear brand, rights and disclosure guardrails.
